Units & Armory Manual

(by Gruntarus)

Units

You will find that Elite Archers can only be trained by Elves, and Berzerkers only by Undead. Humans and Goblins are lame as you might think, but they are not. Read the armory section. The following are the current units in the game.

Miner: You will NEED these. In the beginning your miners mine 45 gold per turn. The higher your mining level the more your miners can mine. During the early stages of the game you will need lots of these.

Soldier: Your men that attack other players, equips Offensive stuff after they are bought.

Knight: A more experienced Soldier, again equips Offensive stuff AND can use steeds. ( Battle -> Upgrades) You will have to buy the Citadel upgrade before you can buy Steeds.

Berzerker: Undead Only!!! A stronger knight, trained from a soldier.

Guard: Your men that defend against other players, equips Defensive stuff after they are bought.

Archer: A more experienced Guard, again equips Defensive stuff AND can occupy Guard Towers. ( Battle -> Upgrades) You will have to buy the Citadel upgrade before you can buy Guard Towers.

Elite Archer: Elf Only!!! A stronger Archer, trained from a guard.

Spy: Helpful when finding someone to attack. These guys spy on players to find out there fortification health, defense, offense and alot more. Equips Spying stuff after they are bought.

Sentry: You don't know how many people spy on you until you have alot of these guys. These guys stop players from spying on you! Equips Sentry stuff after they are bought.

Armory

The following is a list of the type of equipment that the different unit types can use. Ideally they should have one of each type for maximum effectiveness. Of course it's cheaper to train lots of units, but then you need to add the bonuses each weapon gives the unit. Also as stated in the battle guide you can pillage more from your opponent if you have a smaller, well armed army. The game's developers have stated that there is currently no difference between the effectiveness of a weapon in the hands of a normal or upgraded unit. See the equipment manual for the actual bonuses applied.

Soldier, Knight, Berzerker:

Uses ALL Offensive Weapons, Helmets, Armor, Boots & Bracers.

Guard, Archer, Elite Archer:

Uses ALL Defensive Weapons, Helmets, Armor, Boots & Bracers.

Spy:

Uses ALL Spy Offensive Weapons, Armor, Boots & Cloaks.

Sentry:

Uses ALL Sentry Defensive Weapons, Helmets, Armor and Shields.

Battle Upgrades

For battle upgrades you need a Citadel and for a Citadel you need to be a level 23 with 3,200,000 gold in your pocket.

The Battle Upgrades are: Steeds and Guard Towers. Are there any more? Well of course not! Look, every Steed you buy adds 3,000 to your Offense. Every guard tower you buy adds 3,000 to your defense. Or if you had 5 knights and a guard tower. You would have 15,000 defense. Now these are expensive for people who only get 50,000 gold per turn.

When I created this guide I was a level 32, with 10 guard towers and 22 steeds. So the prices are here.

Steed: 430,000 gold, Adds 3,000 to Offense.

Guard Tower: 2,150,000 gold, Adds 3,000 to Defense per occupant. Up to 5 occupants. Can add up to 15,000 defense per full guard tower. Just a little note, before you buy a guard tower, I suggest you have 5 archers to occupy that tower. They can be regular or elite archers. And for the steeds, get a knight trained first. Berzerker's can also ride steeds.

There are two new advanced units that have been added to the game, Veteren Spy and Sentinel (Anti-Spy).

These advanced units can be bought, by training regular spies and Sentries, for 10,000 gold each.

As with other Advanced Units, they cannot be untrained.
Veteren spies cannot be sent on spy missions.

The advantage is in the higher spy rankings that they give you, especially at the higher levels. Reports indicate that they give you 2-3 times the value of the regular spy. The actual number varies on your level, spy upgrade bonus, racial bonus, whether they are equipped with the best gear etc.

eg. I currently have a level 36 Elf Fighter

If I buy one spy and fully equip the unit:

I will get an additional 248 points for the unit (including my elf bonus and spy upgrades)
Once I buy the spy equipment for the unit, I get a total of 3020 points which is 4861 when I include the racial and upgrade bonuses.
248 + 4861 = a total of 4929.

Now if I upgrade that unit to a Veteran Spy, the spy offense bonus is 5425.

5425-4861 = 564 (which is more than double the value of the regular spy at 248)

"okay look at this way: 1 guard tower(2150000) 15k defense with 5 archers/elites in it now pay the extra and give them all long bows add another 7.5K defense.

Now you have a guard tower with a defense of 22.5K defense plus the defense points of the archer themself. Not bad, a lot better than just a long bow or just a guard tower.

Now go and add all the extra armour as well and you have one mean force.

I have 150 Elite's + 6 Archers(f****** archers god damnit I want them dead).

They all have long bows, studded leather helm, studded leather armour(working on this one, currently htere is 39 of this item.), studded leather boots, & studded leather bracers.
my combined defense when I finish will be:

total tower defense: 450,000
total unit defense: 11,250
total armour defense;
Long Bow: 225,000
SL Helm: 45,000
SL Armour: 112,500
SL Boots: 22,500
SL Bracer: 27,000
grand total: 893,250 + fortification and race bonus.
not bad if I do say so myself.
the final should be around 1mill I guess.
So yeh, it's worth it to buy everything."

"true, but you can stack the two together using 1 gaurd. That's where the added value is ;]"

"TIP: 1 guard tower can add 15k defense. 10 long bows can add 15k defense. 1 guard tower costs 2,150,000 gold. 10 long bows costs 2,700,000 gold. I have 10 charisma points. Conclusion: Guard Towers can raise defense much cheaper than Long Bows."
